The beginning of a new greener way to clean
For decades, dry cleaning methods involved using harmful chemicals, including perchloroethylene, commonly known as "PERC". This chemical has been identified as a carcinogen that can lead to various forms of health problems. That is why in 2014, J&P Cleaners decided to make the switch to the wet cleaning method in order to better serve the community.
what exactly is "wet cleaning"? |
Wet cleaning is an environmentally safe alternative to dry cleaning, and is completely non-toxic. By using just water and biodegradable soaps and conditioners in a special computer-controlled washing machine, clothing is precisely agitated and washed with advanced pressure techniques and sensors. Then, the clothing is put into a special dryer that has a moisture sensor to make sure the temperature corresponds to the specific fabrics. Lastly, special tensioning equipment is used to put the final touches on "dry clean only" fabrics (silk, wool, cashmere, leather/suede trims, etc). |
